Bronte Beach and Baths offer a beautiful combination of golden sand, ocean pool swimming, dramatic coastal scenery and relaxed parkland in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Smaller and generally more intimate than nearby Bondi Beach, Bronte is popular with swimmers, surfers, families, walkers and anyone seeking a Sydney beach and beach pool experience.
Located approximately 9 kilometres east-southeast of Sydney’s central business district by road. It’s also only 2.3 kilometres or a 25min walk along the famous Bondi to Coogee walk trail.

What’s the bewt way to get to Bronte Beach?
Visitors using public transport can take a bus from the city or travel via Bondi Junction and connect to a local service. Bronte is also just over a kilometre south of Bondi by the coastal route, making it an appealing stop on the famous Bondi to Coogee walk.
Is there a Beach Pool at Bronte Beach?
The main attraction at Bronte Beach is Bronte Baths, an ocean-fed lap pool built into the rocky coastline beneath the southern headland. The 30-metre pool, is accessible via stairs access into the water and offers the invigorating feeling of swimming in seawater without having to enter the open surf.
Entry is free, making the baths an especially appealing option for regular swimmers and visitors looking for a Sydney beach bath experience. Waves can occasionally wash into the pool, adding to its dramatic coastal character. Conditions may still vary with the weather and sea, so visitors should observe signs and exercise care around wet rocks.
The baths are also highly photogenic. Early morning light, swimmers moving through the salt water and waves breaking beyond the pool create one of Sydney’s most recognisable ocean-pool scenes. Sunrise is particularly atmospheric and is often quieter than the middle of the day.
What facilities are at the beach?
Immediately behind the beach is Bronte Park, a broad grassy area, perfect for sun baking, relaxing and picnicking by the ocean. The park includes picnic tables and barbecue facilities, with room for visitors to relax beneath the trees or spread out on the grass.
Cafes and restaurants (including fish and chips) around Bronte Road provide another option for food and coffee. Visitors can combine an early swim with breakfast or pause here during the coastal walk.

Parking near the beach can be limited, so public transport or the coastal walk from Bondi Beach, may be more convenient.
Which beaches are closest to Bronte?
To the north of Bronte Beach, is Tamarama Beach (1.4km) and then Bondi Beach (2.3km). To the south, is Clovelly Beach (2km). All these beaches can be accessed from the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk.

Bronte Beach is a little small (and a little less hectic) than Bondi Beach, but still offers the full Sydney beach experience with a rugged surrounding coastline, rockpools, a grassy reserve, free to enter beach bath and cafes and restaurants nearby.
