The Shangri La Cairns is a beautiful 5 star luxury hotel located at The Marina and in close proximity to the Cairns Esplanade, shopping mall, restaurants, night markets and the Cairns Esplanade Lagoon. Rooms all have a private balcony that overlooks tropical gardens, Trinity Bay or Marlin Marina. It’s a great place to stay if you are looking for somewhere comfortable and well located to stay while you explore and adventure in Cairns.

What types of rooms are available?

The Shangri La Cairns has a range or rooms from larger one bedroom suites and king rooms to deluxe twin and double rooms. All rooms have a private balcony and a view overlooking a tropical garden, Trinity Bay or Marlin Marina. Luxurious bathrooms are featured in all rooms with some rooms also featuring a large bath with a view.

I stayed in a lovely double room with a balcony overlooking tropical gardens and the Cairns Esplanade, The room was very spacious and practical with lounge, outdoor setting, big flat screen tv and desk.

Is there a restaurant and room service in the hotel?

The Backyard Restaurant is located within the hotel is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner and features indoor dining as well as outdoor casual waterside dining. The restaurant has a focus on bringing it’s guests local flavours from Far North Queensland. Dining is available by the pool from the Pool Bar also. Are there shops nearby?

Below the hotel is The Pier Shopping Centre with a range of shops including clothing, jewellery, swimwear plus plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars for a true Far North Queensland dining experience. There are tour operators within The Pier Shopping Centre also.

Located just a short walk from the hotel is the Shields Street pedestrian mall with plenty of retail shops, tour operators, a McDonalds, cafes and a Woolworths not far from the mall.

Are there restaurants & bars nearby?

The hotel is located amongst so many restaurants you won’t know which ones to choose. Wander to ground level around the hotel or take a short stroll along the Esplanade or into Cairns Central. There is no shortage of different dining experiences here.  You must also check out the Cairns Night Market and enjoy some international or local cuisine one night.

How far is the hotel from the Cairns Esplanade?

You only need to step out the front door of the Shangri La Cairns and you are practically on the Esplanade. Just across the carpark is the Cairns Esplanade Lagoon, and you can see the Cairns Reef Eye Ferris Wheel from the garden and bay view rooms.
