How long is the trail?
If you want to walk the full trail, it’s a challenging 5km loop hike. We walked the longest part of the trail (~3.5km) first, then took some time out for a swim and a picnic at Rocky Pool, before continuing for the last 1.5km to complete the full trail. To do the longest part first, head around the loop in a clockwise direction by taking the track to your left when you enter the trail at the end of Spring Road.
You can also walk to 1.5km direct to Rocky Pool and walk back the same way. This section of the trail is also beautiful and is a little less challenging than the long section of the trail. You can take the shorter hike by taking the track to the right when you enter the trail at the end of Spring Road.
There are blue trail markers along the way although they can be hard to spot, so it’s recommended you use Google Maps to make sure you are on the right track to the pools as there are several tracks within this area.

Is the Rocky Pool trail difficult?
The full loop trail does have several sections that are challenging, in particular steep inclines and declines. It’s recommended the full loop trail only be attempted with a good pair of hiking boots or shoes. Additionally there are some sections where the trail is rocky, uneven or muddy with several sections that include very steep inclines and declines. Trails WA rates this hike as a Class 4.
Class 4 is defined by Trails WA as – difficult trail with rough surface that may have very steep hills or extensive rock hopping. Directional signage may be limited. Bushwalking experience, navigation and emergency first aid skills, and good fitness required.
If this sounds like a bit much for you, the 1.5km section that takes you more directly to Rocky Pools is recommended.

What is there to see along the trail?
The 5km loop trail features stunning elevated hill and valley views. There are lots of wildflowers during the Spring season and you may spot kangaroos, birds and other wildlife along the way. Look out for rocky outcrops to stop and enjoy snack and a drink along the way. Be prepared for adventure along the way with water crossings, muddy sections to navigate and steep inclines and declines.

When is the best time to visit?
After rain in Spring is the best time to visit if you are set on a swim at Rocky Pool. At this time of year there is plenty of water flowing into the pools and it’s also warm enough to swim.
Is Rocky Pool easy to access?
You will have to climb down a few rocks to access the pools, however there are some spots around the waters edge where it is easy to get in and out of the pool.

How long does the trail take?
If you want to take your time with the inclines and declines, stop for a snack and a drink along the way and enjoy the scenery as well as spend some time at Rocky Pool, allow at least 4 hours.
